Style Verdict - Red Lips

Surprise! I happen to be into this trend. Huge shocker, right? Because what trend am I NOT into??? But seriously, I don't like EVERYTHING that's "in" at the moment, but I do like this classic red lip. And c'mon! Every woman NEEDS a killer red lipstick! And the Fall/Winter Holiday season is the perfect time to experiment with this classic look. It's instant glamour in a tube! But I know some of you are still saying, "I can't wear red lipstick, I'll look like a DRAG QUEEN!" Well let me tell you, the trick to pulling this look off is to (1) find the right red color for your skintone, and (2) to NOT overdo the rest of your makeup or you WILL run the risk of looking OVERDONE. So, when opting to wear red, downplay the rest of your makeup, a simple eyeliner with mascara and a little pressed powder, is really all you need to complement this look, because a red lip is bold all on its own. Now that I've done all I can to convince you, I still wanna know what you think. Do you like this look? Hate it? Don't care? Would you rock it? I wanna know your style verdict.

I thought for years that I couldn't wear red lips. I found a color that works for me. I wear a red that has brown undertones (I guess that would be the way to describe).

Ok, ok... IMO, there is only a very small %age of women who can pull this look off- Chanel, you happen to be included in that small %age.

I, on the other hand, usually play up the eyes and just touch up the lips. The red lips look would be just the opposite, play up the lips and touch up the eyes.

... And that, for me, would be a difficult change. My verdict, as always... IF IT LOOKS GOOD ON YOU, THEN ROCK IT! If not, leave it alone.

Oh, and I forgot to mention... the up-keep on red lips is major. Every time you eat, bite your lip, or kiss someone good-bye, you have to check the mirror & re-adjust! With a nice nude lip gloss, you almost never notice a little imperfection.

@Sarah-
Very true observations indeed.

An alternative though, would be to go with a matte red which would be more like a stain (see the last photo, girl to the right) these lippies are a little bit more grainy in their texture... which means that they can be a terror to remove sometime, but for the most part, they barely move after you put them on.

One to try? MAC Diva.

I agree...red lipstick is always in style.

Red lips don't work for me. I look crazy. I probably haven't discovered the right shade.

The only red out of the pics that I think I could wear is the Charlize red.

I'm wearing mine right now. Milani "Merry Go Red". For me, it is the perfect accessory for a casual Friday. Jeans, boots, a tank top, a jacket and those hooker red lips!

I'm in the mirror blowin' kisses to myself :)

I would love to try red lipstick, I just can not seem to find the right shade. I would just go to one of the make-up counters but, I recently saw a news special on how much bacteria is found store samples, ewwww.

Ughh.. my mom used to wear red lipstick ALL the time for years and now her lips are all stined red and it looks disgusting.. my lips are naturally really red though and I hate it.. I wish I had pale lips

I found a good red lipstick, it is called megaccino by Jane , but it has been discontinued. I am fair skinned, but I received alot of compliments from this color. I wish that I could find it again....

Great stars' review! I like it! You are as usually fabulous in your posts! I also have a post about red lipstick, you may check and say what you think:)

I've tried a variety of reds and I never found a lipstick that worked. But I found that Revlon's Just Bitten lip stain works very well. It requires little to none up keep and can also be used as a lovely cheek tint. :)

If you're going to wear red lips, you really shouldn't overgloss it. Angelina Jolie and the girl to the right of her...way too much. Lips seem to consume half of their face.

However the bottom two are wearing their shades perfectly.

The middle one...Idk. Not feeling it. Too dark for her skin color, looks like her lips are bleeding.
