So Similar, Yet So... Alike.

The Christian Louboutin Emily Boot ($925) and the Steve Madden Chap Cream Patent boot ($149) could pass for twins, no? Blatant knock-off or flattering imitation? Would you purchase and/or wear either pair? I wanna know your style verdict.

Ok, this is crazy. I just saw over on Fashionista.com another recent pair of Madden shoes that are VERY obvious copies of Louboutin.

Personally, I think Steve Madden is just asking for a lawsuit. It's questionable whether it would succeed due to the current state of IP law in the US, but if I were Louboutin I would still pursue it.

Wow. You are absolutely right about the white pump at Fashionista.com. That Madden shoe is IDENTICAL to the Louboutin! And if you ask me, the Madden boot is the same as the Louboutin too.

Steve may need to do some re-evaluating of his designs.. with the swiftness.

I would definitely purchase the Louboutin's simply because the design is Grade A, it looks sexier, and it's Christian Louboutin after all. I'm a huge fan of booties this fall =)

I want the Louboutins, desperately. And I think Steve Madden has taken the knockoff thing WAY too far. I would be really bothered if the minute I got a piece of jewelry online, some jerk came up with a CAD version of my piece. It's one thing to be inspired; another thing to outright copy like that.

I love both Steve Madden and CHristian Louboutin, but the truth is I can't afford $900 shoes, so getting a great knock-off (and that's what it is, sorry Steven) for almost 10% of the price seems great.

I would definitely buy the Louboutins if I had the money, though!

Wow these look dead on alike geesh. I would totally rock these, they are smokin' hot! To save about $800 I'd def buy the "knockoff" pair.

Blogger Michelle said ... (2:39 AM) :

I have to say, that I'm loving these shoes.I would probably buy the Knockoff unfortunately.I am too poor to afford Louboutins.

Blogger Ana said ... (5:22 PM) :

They are both ugly. Both should be sued for making fugly shoes.

are you kidding people? the knock off is way cuter.

let's not pretend that christian owns the concept of the victorian style bootie...

Blogger Paula said ... (10:51 PM) :

People who have $900 to spend and want to spend it on shoes aren't going to buy the knock-off. People who are fine with the knock-off aren't going to buy the $900 pair. So what's the problem? When people pay that kind of money for a Louboutin, they want a red sole anyway.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 PM) :

i think both are cute...but i don't believe in spending $900 on shoes unless i was beyonce...

Blogger Ana B. said ... (9:47 PM) :

So I saw these on Fashionista as well and must say that my heart craves the Loubis but my MasterCard says go for Steve. LOL.

I love all your comments and I also agree with them all. I say if you can afford the real thing buy it but me personally, if I knew I was about to buy a knock-off I would put it back...why I took that route in the past and felt bad.

Designers put alot into their designs so why buy knock-offs...
