"Half Their Size" is a People franchise that began in 2002 and focuses on folks who desperately need to shed pounds. NBC has done well in the weight-loss business with "The Biggest Loser."
"We've been talking to People about doing something together," said Mark Bracco, ABC's veep of alternative series and specials. "The 'Half Their Size' brand is a top seller for them, and it was natural to take that franchise and turn it into a special."
