Italian VOGUE Blazes a Trail w/ VOGUE Black & VOGUE Curvy..

via Black Book:
Vogue Italia is beefing up its namesake site with three new subsections (two of which are definitely pushing some envelopes). First off, there's 'Vogue Black,' which focuses on black women in fashion--specifically those in front of the camera like mannequins and model-cum-TV host Tyra Banks--in much the same vein as the magazine's hugely successful 'all black' issue. And, in addition to a section called 'Vogue Talents'--which highlights young designers (including the not so fledgling Rodarte) from around the globe--there's 'Vogue Curvy.' As you might expect from the moniker, it's a new digital home for the plus size, curvaceous models who recently have experienced arguably the most mainstream exposure that those in the niche industry have ever had. LFW: Matthew Williamson Fall 2010 [VIDEO]

I flipped so far over the other day when I first caught a glimpse of this coat from Matthew Williamson's Fall 2010 collection that I had to showcase more of what he brought. Nice.

The End of an "Ugly" Era: America Ferrera on Saying Bye to "Betty"

She talks about how grateful she is to have had the experience she had on the show. How hard it is to say goodbye to a role and and a story that she loved. She says that "Ugly Betty" will always be this beautiful, almost perfect experience in her life.

NYFW Fall 2010 Highlights [VIDEO]...

A sad beginning (McQueen's death) along with cautious optimism reigned at the New York Fall 2010 shows. Dark palettes, textures, lots of fur and live streaming gaining in popularity which made fashion accessible for everyone to see (fab), all had a prominent place during the New York shows.

Isaac Mizrahi helped to close out Fashion Week in Bryant Park with a fabulous display of fall clothes. The theme for Isaac's show was Central Park and it had all of the elements... large sidewalk, hanging trees even light snow (pretty). Add to all of that a [live] band and you had the makings of lovely show, beautiful fall clothes and all.

A few pics from Christian Siriano's Fall 2010 showing...

via WWD:
Christian Siriano branched out from his typical experimental evening gowns, offering some
ladylike suits and plenty of day-to-cocktail dresses with asymmetric ruffles, but it’s time for the
designer to create looks for the real world, not “Project Runway.”

Jason Wu Fall 2010...

via WWD:
For those who thought Jason Wu’s pre-fall collection — tougher, more structured — might have signaled a lasting shift in the designer’s direction, think again. Fall found Wu squarely back in the pretty, polished fold, his bread-and-butter currency thus far. But there were savvy lessons picked up from that hard-edged detour, namely, terrifically meaty sportswear and a healthy dose of men’s wear influences

The Obama's On the March Issue of Essence Magazine...

"Malia will tell you, my attitude was, if she came home with a B, that's not good enough because there's no reason why she can't get an A..." --President Barack Obama, ESSENCE

ESSENCE kicks off the first of its three-part education series, "Teaching Our Children," with a White House exclusive--an interview with President Barack Obama. In his first interview of 2010, he talks tough with ESSENCE editor-in-chief Angela Burt-Murray, Deputy Editor Tatsha Robertson and Washington Correspondent Cynthia Gordy about holding teachers accountable, closing the education gap between Black and White students, how he and First Lady Michelle Obama encourage daughters Malia and Sasha to love learning, and how you can do the same with your own children.

So Simple (and CUTE!) I Wanna Make it.

Stella McCartney attended a VIP Screening of the Oscar nominated 'Food Inc' at The Curzon Mayfair on February 8, 2010 in London, England I'm assuming wearing her own one shoulder black satin dress. Love it. SEWING PROJECT!

Style Verdict: Menswear Trousers

Thandie Newtown, Rachel Bilson and Jessica Alba are all taking their cues from the guys with menswear trousers.

These are not your basic work pants. I've seen them wide-legged, tapered, cropped, pleated, high-waisted, low-waisted and flat front, and I have to say, I'm digging the look. I think I like the ease of the way it looks while still having some polish. And the fact that it's a nice break from being all girly. But I wanna know what you think about menswear trousers. Do you like it? Hate it? Don't care? Would you wear it? I wanna know your style verdict.

QB Drew Brees On the Move Since the Saints Superbowl Win...

Drew Brees just won the Super Bowl with his team… so where did he go? Disney World! New Orleans Saints quarterback and Super Bowl MVP enjoyed the view along the parade route with Mickey Mouse on Monday during a celebration at the Magic Kingdom theme park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

And in case you missed it, Drew Brees on Late Night with David Letterman below:

February 8, 2010

The New Orleans Saints: Superbowl Champs.

Saints QB Drew Brees displayed poise and precision in his and the Saints first Super Bowl appearance. Drew completed 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. How can you not like this dude? So happy for him.

Saints CB Tracy Porter (#22) stepped in front of Reggie Wayne, intercepted Peyton Manning's pass and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown to give New Orleans a 31-17 lead with 3:12 remaining in the game.
I lost it on this play right here. LOST. IT. Been looking for a #22 jersey ever since they won.

Can't leave out Saints Super Coach Sean Payton. NOTHING slips past this man. Dude knows how to call a play. Happy for him too.

Congrats to the WHO DAT Nation, the city of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana!

And if the fans face paint was any indication of who would win the Superbowl between the Colts and the Saints, judging by this side by side, Saints just had better accuracy and precision...
the proof is in the pics.

Sandra Bullock: Actress Most Likely to Sell Fashion...

Photo via Fabsugar

Via WSJ:
With the Academy Award nominations out this week, fashion designers are already jockeying to dress the stars for their big night. But rather than trying to pick the Oscar winners or the most fashionable celebrities, designers should be asking another question: Who will be the most effective at getting viewers to buy the clothes they see on the red carpet?

Among this year's nominees, the "best seller" award is likely to go to a nominee whom few in the fashion world are discussing: Sandra Bullock. At StyleSpot.com, a Los Angeles-based Web site that links red-carpet photos to stores that sell the looks, Ms. Bullock's Vivienne Westwood dress at the People's Choice Awards ranked among the top of all red-carpet appearances this year in inspiring viewers to "click through" to retail sites.

Beyonce Explains Her Love Filled Grammy Speech...

Your girl says that she was just so happy, she just kinda got lost in the moment...

Gabriel Aubry for Louis Vuitton-That's a Pretty Dude Right There.

Halle Berry's baby daddy, Gabriel Aubry is the new face of Louis Vuitton's Spring Summer 2010 campaign. And you know what? That's a whole lotta pretty in one family unit. Selfish! Lol, I kid, I kid. The Vuitton luggage campaign was shot in Ibiza, Spain. Nice. Apparently Jesus Luz was also in the running (Madonna tried to pull a few strings) but Gabriel ended up snagging the gig in the end.
Fab choice Louis Vuitton. Fab choice indeed.
