HIP CANDY BLOG FAQ:

How long have you been blogging?

I've been blogging since June 2006. Hip Candy started out more focused on Fashion, Celebrity and Entertainment. The blogs current focus is still fashion focused but with more of a concentration on my Personal Style, Food, Travel and DIY fashion sewing.

SEWING FAQ:

When/Where did you learn how to sew?

I learned to sew when I attended FIDM Los Angeles in their Fashion Design Program in 1998/1999.

Do you do custom sewing or sew for hire?

This is probably the most frequent question that I get asked about sewing and unfortunately, no, I do not do custom sewing or sew for hire as I am not a seamstress. I also don't do alterations. Currently, I only design, sew and link to tutorials that I think are helpful and interesting to my readers.

Do you do sewing tutorials?

No I don't. I do, however, link to other relevant sewing tutorials online and incorporate them into my blog posts when I've used them to complete a project.

Do you use store bought sewing patterns?

Of course I do! I use sewing patterns exactly as they are and I'll also use patterns as a guide when I have a general idea of a design I want, but it's not quite everything I need, so I'll tweak it. I'm also a fan of making simple patterns from scratch and making patterns from clothing I already own, there are many tutorials online that show how to do it.
